Trump used Truth Social to market a set of "Limited Edition" Bitcoin shoes after his presentation at the Bitcoin 2024 conference in Nashville. Additionally, he has declared that he is open to receiving Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.
The Sneakers That Trump Debuts
In his keynote speech, the former president made some audacious claims that, should he be elected, may alter the course of U.S. cryptocurrency.
"On Saturday, I had the opportunity to speak at the Bitcoin Conference in Nashville, Tennessee. It was fantastic! The president posted it on his Truth Social page.
Two different shoe styles, one in black and one in gold, are shown in his post. There are a lot of other shoes in white, red, and other colors on the website as well.
In addition to the shoe pitch, Trump's address included legislative suggestions that might have a profound impact.
The US government's bitcoin sales will be halted and SEC Chair Gary Gensler fired, he said. A "strategic bitcoin reserve" was another idea that Trump advocated for. If these claims pan out, they may change the way the US government handles cryptocurrency regulation.
It's not totally new that Trump has embraced crypto. Bitcoin is only one of several cryptocurrencies that his campaign has taken as campaign contributions. Also, the ex-president has dabbled in the NFT market before with his collections.
