Wyoming Senator Cynthia Lummis spoke at the Bitcoin 2024 conference and announced a bill to purchase 1 million BTC for the US balance, which is 5% of the total supply of the asset.
“Creating a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve will firmly cement the dollar’s position as the world’s reserve currency in the 21st century and ensure that we remain a global leader in financial innovation,” the official said.
The bill is expected to be presented “in the coming days.”
