Bitcoin appeared on the giant LED Sphere in Las Vegas on Monday thanks to an ad by popular centralized exchange Crypto.com.

A giant Bitcoin logo takes up the entire screen towering over the Las Vegas Strip, then transitions to a series of golden digital Bitcoin coins decorating the screen. Of course, the Crypto.com logo also appears.

Bitcoin is the largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization and the O.G. created the broader cryptocurrency industry. But backers of another token have more recently raised funds to try and beat Bitcoin: Back in March, the memecoin Dogwifhat (WIF) community raised more than $700,000 to bring their mascot to the Sphere .

With no clear move to put the meme dog on the pole, critics of the “Sphere Wif Hat” fundraiser have speculated that the Las Vegas arena will eventually not provide advertising space for the Cryptocurrency project. But with Bitcoin now available on the Sphere, some in the WIF community believe the door is open for them.

One of the fundraiser's organizers, popular memecoin trader Ansem, reposted the video while adding a simple smile. Overall, the community reaction to Crypto.com's ad was that WIF's ad campaign must be imminent, given the obvious cutbacks for crypto projects.

“This is definitely an AI-generated deepfake, as Crypto Twitter has repeatedly told me that Sphere wants nothing to do with crypto,” investor Dogwifhat Free posted sardonically on X.

But not everyone is happy about the lack of specific status updates surrounding the “Sphere Wif Hat” campaign, or Ansem's scattered responses. The Dogwifhat Telegram channel has set up automatic responses to anyone who asks, based on the frequency of requests, and the feature has remained in use for over a month now.

“Everyone will be informed here once a specific date is set. We are exploring angles of cooperation in this area and trying to maximize efficiency! We are getting closer to the set date!”

Mihir and Quasi, two of the campaign organizers, did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

WIF's price is down 0.48% over the past 24 hours to its current price of $2.63. Meanwhile, Bitcoin was much less affected with a decrease of around 0.94% over the same time period.
