**Nigeria Launches Tech Training Initiative to Boost Digital Economy**
Nigeria is stepping up its game in the tech world! Vice President Kashim Shettima has kicked off a new initiative to train 1,000 Nigerians annually in cutting-edge technologies like AI and blockchain. This program, launched in Jigawa, aims to position Nigeria as a leader in digital transformation and innovation in Africa.
The government has partnered with tech company Gluwa to make this happen. Additionally, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu announced a grant of 150,000 nairas ($90) for micro, small, and medium enterprises to foster a thriving fintech ecosystem.
The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) is also setting up research centers across Nigeria to focus on emerging technologies, including IoT, UAVs, and robotics. Director-General Kashifu Inuwa highlighted the agency's dedication to building a robust tech research environment.
