OKX, an A-list crypto exchange by trading volume has taken the lead as the first major exchange to introduce Telegram mini-app (TMA). The exchange recently launched a predict-to-earn game dubbed “OKX Race”. In order for players to earn rewards, they have to make quick guesses on Bitcoin (BTC) price changes within five-seconds intervals.

What is an OKX Race?

OKX Race is an innovative clicker Web3 game that is easy to play. The players have a simple decision to make: will Bitcoin’s price ‘moon’ in the next five seconds, or will it face ‘doom’? Correct guesses earn players points, and consecutive wins grant lucky players multipliers to boost their points. In addition, players can also invite friends to earn referral rewards and utilize points for in-game upgrades.

Although OKX might be the first exchange to launch a TMA, however, OKX Racer is not the initial game centered on Bitcoin’s price changes. Notably the Solana-based derivatives betting platform Hxro introduced a remarkably similar Bitcoin trading game in 2019. Similar to the OKX Race, players predicted if BTC price would rise or fall within a five-minute span.

OKX’s User-Centric Development

This innovative development is part of the exchange’s master plan to introduce a full range of products catering to both newcomers and seasoned traders. Jason Lau, OKX’s Chief Innovation Officer, emphasized that the exchange’s aim is to adopt user-friendly, interconnected, and accessible platforms that foster communities, reward engagement, and promote enjoyment.

Recently, the exchange’s wallet was reported to have recently added support for the TON Blockchain. In addition, its recent partnership with Circle and expansion to Australia in May This move clearly solidifies its commitment to embracing new technologies and expanding their offerings.

Telegram Mini-Apps Becomes More Prevalent

This strategic decision taps into a growing trend happening in the crypto industry and the Web3 world at large. Telegram, with its 900 million active user base, has become a favored platform for tap-to-earn games. These games include Hamster Kombat, Notcoin, and Yescoin.

These games offer users the potential to earn cryptocurrencies through the TON blockchain. This  showcasing the platform’s versatility and appeal for crypto enthusiasts seeking engaging ways to interact with digital assets.

Markedly, these Web3 games such as Notcoin and Hamster Kombat have been doing exceptionally well ever since they were introduced. Furthermore, Telegram CEO Pavel Durov recently announced plans to boost blockchain efforts with a mini app store and a web3-supported in-app browser. A move to introduce blockchain to millions in 2024.
