According to Cointelegraph, a group of artists and early testers leaked OpenAI’s unreleased text-to-video tool Sora to protest against its unpaid research and development fees.

The tool was uploaded to HuggingFace, but OpenAI has stepped in to shut it down. The artists said they were being used for "art laundering" and were not getting the pay and recognition they deserved.

The leaker said hundreds of artists provided unpaid testing and feedback but were excluded from compensation. The Sora tool was shut down hours after it went live, and users shared the resulting videos on X.

The leaked version is believed to be a faster "turbo" version, and the code shows that video customization and style control may be added in the future. OpenAI did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
