Russia’s Industry Ministry has called for a delay in the rollout of digital payments in rubles, emphasizing that infrastructure is not ready. The ministry is concerned about challenges businesses will face by the 2025 deadline, ChainCatcher reported.

The draft law requires large retailers to adopt digital payments in rubles by July 2025, with smaller businesses facing a later deadline depending on their annual revenue.

The industry ministry suggested a two-year delay to give companies enough time to complete operating guidelines, update software and train employees.
