According to BlockBeats, on November 16, the U.S. Federal Court of Appeals approved Special Prosecutor Smith's request to suspend the appeal of Trump's case involving confidential documents.

Smith is wrapping up two cases against Trump, who would take office in January 2025 if he wins the 2024 presidential election, because of a U.S. Justice Department ban on sitting presidents from facing criminal prosecution.

Smith said the pause on the appeal was intended to give the government time to assess the unprecedented situation and determine the appropriate course consistent with Justice Department policy.
