According to BlockBeats, on November 14, U.S. President-elect Trump announced the appointment of billionaire Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy to lead the newly established "Department of Government Efficiency" (D.O.G.E.).
Ann Skeet of Santa Clara University pointed out that Musk's business interests conflict with government interests. SpaceX, Tesla and other companies have close ties with the government and face multiple federal investigations.
Richard Painter, a former White House ethics lawyer, said that if DOGE operates as a government agency, Musk would need to divest his business interests or recuse himself from matters unless he is exempted. Auto safety advocates worry that the reforms will weaken the role of regulators.
