Ledger announces Clear Signing initiative to enhance web3 wallet security

Ledger Wallet CTO Charles Guillemet outlined the company’s exciting next steps to eliminate a web3 wallet security risk called “blind signatures.” The update debuted during a presentation on the EthCC stage in Brussels, but Guillemet later posted a summary on Twitter.

Blind signing is like signing a blank check, and Guillemet explained that this happened because NFT and decentralized finance (DeFi) transactions have become too complex for smart wallet verification systems to handle.

To break this mold, Ledger has launched a set of Clear Signing tools, libraries, and application programming interfaces (APIs), each of which will be published on GitHub, a knowledge-sharing platform for developers designed to encourage widespread knowledge and use.
