The U.S. Department of Energy is resuming efforts to survey crypto mining companies' energy use. In January, a proposed survey requiring nearly 500 commercial crypto miners to provide detailed data on their energy usage was proposed. However, the proposal has been met with backlash from crypto miners over concerns that it could create an "overly detailed record" of mining operations. Now, the Energy Information Administration (EIA) has hosted a webinar to get input on how a survey should be created. The crypto industry suggested that the survey should also include traditional data centers. EIA said it is in the process of developing the survey and is working on a preliminary proposal that is expected to be published in the Federal Register later this quarter. 📊💡 What kind of impact do you think this survey could have on the crypto mining industry?
