WEB1..2...3...

Very often you can hear how the cryptocurrency world uses the terms WEB2 and WEB3.

I will try to briefly and simply convey what it is. As we understand, in the beginning there was WEB1 - this is the same Internet that became easily accessible to everyone after the advent of ADSL modems and 3g technology in mobile devices. At that time, the Internet was like a reference book, where you could find information, download a movie, and sit on forums. You could say it was a time of centralized content and centralized servers.

WEB2 is the period of the Internet when video services and social networks appeared, that is, users themselves began to create content and discuss (edit) it. This period is characterized by the fact that users themselves have become content providers, but servers are still in demand both for storing content and applications (programs) for using it, and for making money from this content.

WEB3 is the coming future in which everything will not be central, that is, there will be no servers. The applications themselves and all content will be located on user devices. Similar to cryptocurrency compared to fiat and banks.

My opinion about web3 today is quite skeptical. I can't find any problems that web3 would solve. I am also confident that not a single currently existing blockchain network will be part of the web3 they are talking about, in particular we are talking about ton and atom.

One way or another, this is my subjective opinion.
