The Open Network (TON) has faced a wave of phishing attacks amid an increase in activity and the price of its token. The attacks are primarily spread through group chats, where attackers use deceptive tactics such as fake airdrops to compromise users' TON wallets and steal assets, including NFTs.

Anonymous Telegram numbers, which many people use to create accounts, are becoming increasingly popular. Users of these accounts are at risk of becoming victims of phishing attacks.

The TON network showed significant growth and increased activity in 2024. The daily volume of blockchain transfers has reached 10% of Bitcoin. It is worth noting that the increase in network activity is associated with a number of important developments, including the advertising system on Telegram, which sends half of the channel’s revenue directly to their owners exclusively in the TON cryptocurrency.

DeFiLlama's latest data highlighted TON's rise, revealing that its total value locked (TVL) soared to nearly $650 million on Monday, representing a nearly 7% increase in just one week. This also marks an increase of more than 4,540% since the start of 2024, when TVL was around $14 million.
