According to Odaily Planet Daily, advisers to US President-elect Trump are considering reshaping the leadership of the Federal Reserve, including appointing Federal Reserve Board Governor Bowman as vice chairman in charge of supervision.
Earlier, Michael Barr announced his resignation as vice chairman for supervision, but retained his seat on the Fed's board of governors. Advisers are also drafting a list of candidates to succeed Chairman Powell, whose term ends in May 2026.
Trump picked Powell as chairman during his first term but has expressed dissatisfaction with the decision. Candidates considered by advisers included Kevin Hassett, Larry Lindsay, Mark Summerlin, David Malpass, Kevin Warsh and Bowman.
