Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has called on Elon Musk to moderate the heated debate on his platform regarding foreign tech workers, Cointelegraph reported.
Buterin said in a Dec. 31 X post that while he admires Musk’s willingness to fight for free speech, he hopes Musk will tone down the “tone of the discussion” and stop using “social media bans.”
Musk's support for hiring foreign tech workers at U.S. companies has angered conservatives who see it as a disadvantage for their own citizens. Musk was subsequently accused of removing premium features from accounts that were critical of his stance on H1B visas.
Buterin stressed that leaders have a crucial role in setting the tone and should use their power for the good of humanity. He warned that “bans” are an ineffective measure to control speech and could lead to the collapse of public discourse.
