About WAVES
Waves is a multi-purpose blockchain platform which supports various use cases including decentralized applications (DApps) and smart contracts.
Launched in June 2016 following one of the cryptocurrency industry’s earliest initial coin offerings (ICO), Waves initially set out to improve on the first blockchain platforms by increasing speed, utility and user-friendliness.
Waves is synonymous with its founder, Ukrainian-born scientist Alexander Ivanov (also known as Sasha Ivanov).
Waves’ native token is WAVES, an uncapped supply token used for standard payments such as block rewards. In 2021, WAVES reached its all time high price of $40 with a market cap of $3.69B.
In 2022, Waves announced its transforming from 1.0 to 2.0 plan including: New consensus with EVM support, New Governance Models, Cross-chain Finance, Level 0 Inter-Metaverse Protocol, New US company and Accelerator to increase the dominance of Waves blockchain as well as the massive adoption of blockchain technology.
