What is Scroll (SCR)?
Scroll is a Layer 2 solution designed to enhance Ethereum's scalability through zero-knowledge proof technology, offering faster and more affordable transactions without sacrificing security or compatibility. The platform aims to expand Ethereum’s reach, becoming the most secure and trusted Layer 2 network capable of processing vast on-chain volumes while maintaining its alignment with Ethereum's core values.
At its core, Scroll operates as a bytecode-equivalent zkEVM Layer 2, built in collaboration with the Ethereum Foundation's PSE team. It is live on mainnet, providing a developer-friendly environment with a focus on decentralizing provers and sequencers to support further innovations. SCR token holders will have governance rights, with future applications of the token aimed at decentralizing core network components, supporting multichain integrations, and incentivizing participation within the ecosystem. Additionally, the SCR token will enable staking, gas-free transactions, and serve as a key anchor for ecosystem coordination.
Scroll's architecture consists of three main layers: a Sequencing Layer, which handles transaction execution and finality on Ethereum; a Proving Layer, where zkEVM validity proofs are generated; and a Settlement Layer, responsible for verification and communication between Ethereum and Scroll.
With a total supply of 1 billion SCR tokens, 19% (or 190 million) are in circulation at the time of writing.
SCR is listed on Binance for trade and purchase. The current price of SCR is updated and available in real time on Binance.
