About ICON (ICX)
ICON is a decentralized network of protocols operating on the underlying independent ICON blockchain. The platform seeks to be a hub for a consortium of independent decentralized applications (DApps), smart contracts, and economies of scale. Its mission reflects a keen interest in enhancing the interoperability of businesses, non-profit organizations, and public entities through its blockchain and decentralized ecosystem.
ICON was founded in 2017 by South Korean tech entrepreneur and advisor Min Kim. That same year, it launched its native token ICX, which is supported on the Ethereum blockchain. In January 2018, ICON launched its full network. ICX holders reportedly received their tokens later that year, in June.
ICON has its own internal token standard that is implemented on its ICR-16 blockchain. Reportedly proposed in 2019, ICR-15 enables the issuance of securities and tokenized assets by ICON network participants. ICX is used in ICON network operations and traded as an interchangeable cryptocurrency token. ICX price is updated and available in real time on Binance.
