About THORChain (RUNE)

THORChain (RUNE) is a Layer 1 blockchain protocol based on Cosmos SDK and Tendermint, which help ensure the security of its protocol. According to THORChain itself, its main purpose is to enable the seamless swapping of Layer 1 cryptocurrency coins with one another in a hassle-free, fully decentralized, and permissionless setting.

Liquidity used for swapping on the network comes from assets locked into liquidity pools by token holders. They lock various assets into existing pools on the platform in exchange for yields and rewards. THORChain is noted for being an effective bridge to swap popular cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum, as well as engage in yield-generating activities.
