Diageo’s premium whisky brand Johnnie Walker partners with BlockBar, VANDYTHEPINK, and 88rising to release a limited-edition whisky collection backed with NFTs.

The NFT collection includes 250 Johnnie Walker Blue Label bottles. The liquor is backed by non-fungible tokens, featuring artwork by a Virginia-based designer VANDYTHEPINK, real name Junghoon Son. For this drop, the artist developed a set of designs inspired by the beauty of craftsmanship, balance, and quality. So, the NFT designs feature different symbols, such as bold dragons, harmonious clouds, royal fans, balance fish, and blooming flowers. Notably, the designs are not final, and NFT owners will have a chance to vote and decide which bottle design to keep.

“Inspired by the complex harmony and depth of character, I wanted my artwork to be emblematic of the balance within the bottle while representing the communities Johnnie Walker and 88rising bring together,”

says Vandy The Pink.

Besides their Johnnie Walker bottles, NFT holders will get access to other perks as well. First of all, the brand will invite holders to the in-person VIP meet-and-greet with VANDYTHEPINK at Vayner3’s “V” event, which will take place on December 1 during Art Basel Miami. Attendees will have a chance to receive serially numbered commemorative physical artwork during the event. Secondly, Johnnie Walker NFTs will grant holders access to the exclusive Blue Label liquid cocktail menu and tasting.

BlockBar

The public NFT drop will take place on November 22, while selected holders will have a chance to access the release on November 21. One NFT goes for $355 (approximately 0.32 ETH at the time of writing).

BlockBar is an NFT marketplace dedicated to fine wines and spirits, and the upcoming release is not the platform’s first collaboration with Johnnie Walker. In September this year, it dropped a collection of 75 Johnnie Walker Blue Label Ghost and Rare Port Dundas sets created by generative AI artist Dr. Ivona Tautkute-Rustecka.
