Most of the cryptocurrencies associated with Solana's memes, such as BONK , WIF, ANALOS, have fallen in value by almost 50% over the past month. In particular, the dogwifhat token (WIF), launched in November 2023, has experienced a significant drop of 76% from its peak of $0.33 and is currently trading at $0.08. Its market capitalization also dropped from $324 million to $78 million.
During the meme token trend, crypto trader Blockgraze managed to turn an initial investment of $1,000 into an impressive $200,000.
Another dog-themed token, Bonk (BONK), has fallen 70% from its December highs and is currently trading at $0.00001018. This drop was accompanied by a reduction in market capitalization from $1.5 billion to $620 million, as well as a decrease in trading volume.
Launched in 2022 without much hype, BONK experienced an impressive 100-fold increase in December 2023 after listing on #Coinbase and #Binance .
A relatively recent meme coin, ANALOS (ANALOS), has seen a significant drop of 92% from its December all-time high (ATH), but still maintains a significant trading volume of $26 million. An unknown user managed to earn more than $5.7 million by investing only 30 SOL ($2,220 at the time) in ANALOS.
Another meme token, Silly Dragon (SILLY), dropped by 60% compared to the previous month's peak. Introduced on November 8, a trader managed to turn 1 SOL (~$61) into $2 million in a single transaction.
Less popular cat-themed cryptocurrencies, such as popcat (POPCAT) and Chipi (CHIPI), also experienced a significant drop - by 89% and 93%, respectively.
At the same time, Solana's own token (SOL) fell by 14% over the past week, reaching $90. Its market capitalization remains at $40 billion, and the daily trading volume is $2.8 billion. According to DeFi Llama, Solana has $1.25 billion in blocked funds, most of which are concentrated on the Marinade Finance staking platform ($957 million).
