2023-06-08

Main Takeaways

  • Binance collaborated with Taiwan’s Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB) to share its expertise in tackling digital asset-related crime with more than 200 Taiwanese law enforcement officers

  • The initiative is part of Binance’s Global Law Enforcement Training Program, which has delivered over fifty in-person and online training sessions so far this year.

On June 8, Binance conducted a one-day training program in collaboration with Taiwan’s Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB) in Taipei. This collaboration is part of our broader commitment to contribute to combating cybercrime in alliance with law enforcement agencies around the globe.

The program is designed and led by experts from Binance’s Law Enforcement Training and Investigation team, with more than 200 law enforcement officers attending, both on-site and virtually. The workshop addressed a range of topics including cryptocurrency-related crime trends, investigation techniques, and case studies of Binance’s collaboration with law enforcement agencies tackling cybercrime.

"As a growing number of people in Taiwan grow an interest in cryptocurrency, it is important that the crypto ecosystem feels safe and comfortable for users. That is why Binance puts substantial resources and effort into safeguarding our platform and strengthening its security, as well as that of the broader crypto ecosystem. We welcome the collaborative efforts of regulators and law enforcement agencies in Taiwan, and look forward to similar collaborations in the future," said Damien Ho, Global Partnerships at Binance.

Jarek Jakubcek, Head of Law Enforcement Training at Binance, commented: “User protection is the utmost priority at Binance, and a large part of that involves proactive engagement with law enforcement agencies around the world. After all, effective security is collaborative. Today’s session offered yet another valuable opportunity to share our experience on crime prevention and investigations, and we are glad to be working hand in hand with Taiwan’s law enforcement authorities."

In September 2022, Binance formally launched the Global Law Enforcement Training Program, the industry’s first global coordinated effort of this kind. Just within the first five months of 2023, we have conducted more than 50 in-person and remote training sessions. Demand for specialized training in fighting crypto crime has increased alongside the growing interest in and adoption of crypto globally. Binance remains committed to deepening our efforts on this front to create a more secure and robust digital asset ecosystem.
