Main Takeaways
Binance has launched a six-part video series highlighting our compliance experts and their views on various topics.
In the third video of this series, weâll hear about the work Binanceâs Compliance and Investigations teams do.
To ensure that Binance can show up for users around the globe and realize the vision to increase the freedom of money, we need some of the worldâs best compliance and investigations experts. And thatâs exactly what Binance has done â weâve built a strong team that has grown over the years. Today, weâll hear what the compliance and investigations teams in Binance do and how they help make the crypto world safer and more user-focused.
This video is Part 3 in a series of 6 blog posts where we will highlight leaders in our compliance and investigations team and get their views on various topics.
In this weekâs video, Matt Price, Global Head of Intelligence and Investigations, highlights that his teamâs main goal is to protect our customers, our users, and the larger crypto ecosystem. Binance conducts proactive investigations where Mattâs team tries to identify bad actors in the crypto space and take actions to mitigate the risks they create. His team also works very closely with law enforcement and regulatory agencies globally to share information and intelligence about potential criminal activities. And finally, the Investigations team also teaches and trains people globally on how to do these types of investigations, including how to leverage tools effectively, how to trace cryptocurrency transactions, and more.
Chagri Poyraz, our Global Head of Sanctions in Binance, was also featured in this weekâs video. He talks about how his team develops internal controls and tools that assist with compliance without having a major impact on Binance customers' journey. Chagriâs team is focused on making sure that Binanceâs sanctions program is understood by our customers, which is why the team is directly attached to customer service. Everything that we develop in Binance and every new product must be compliant across the globe. Thatâs why his team helps to build the right compliance controls while they design the product, rather than patching it up later when we have regulatory pressures.
In the video, Richard Teng, Regional Head of Europe and MENA, highlights that governments want to continue growing their economy, and the Web3 crypto economy is extremely important in that regard. Thatâs why Binance is always looking for ways to collaborate with governments and support their Web3 and crypto ecosystem development. We also look into how we support the talent pool in this space. Richard then highlights that Binance works closely with regulators to understand the rules and regulations better, complying with them in order to offer our products in the best way possible.
This weekâs video also features Tigran Gambaryan, Head of Financial Crimes Compliance at Binance. Tigran highlights that the work that his department does has a direct impact on peopleâs lives. For example, our law enforcement team responds to law enforcement requests from around the world. In 2022 alone, Tigran says his team responded to over 50,000 law enforcement requests. It's an incredibly important job that has a direct impact on human lives around the world.
