According to U.Today, Elon Musk, the owner of X social media platform and CEO of Tesla, recently made a bold prediction about the future of artificial intelligence (AI). During a Space session on the X platform, Musk stated that AI is set to surpass human intelligence by the end of next year. He also discussed the competition between his own AI chatbot, Grok, and OpenAI’s ChatGPT.

Musk, when asked about the current state of AI, warned that the answer would be lengthy. He stated that AI is the fastest-developing technology he has ever witnessed, with major announcements being made almost every week. He also noted that new AI hardware is being introduced every six to nine months.

Musk also discussed his Grok AI product, stating that a new version, Grok 2.0, is currently being trained. He expects this new model to outperform its rival, ChatGPT-4, once training is completed, which is estimated to be in May. Over the weekend, it was reported that using Grok, which is available on the X app, is already 60% cheaper per month than a monthly ChatGPT subscription.

Musk co-founded OpenAI in 2015 and provided significant financial support. However, he later disagreed with the company's management over its future strategy. Originally established as a nonprofit AI research lab, OpenAI eventually transitioned into a for-profit entity and entered into a strategic partnership with Microsoft.

In other AI news, renowned author Stephen King recently tweeted that he is not concerned about AI, cryptically stating that he has his 'mojo' working. Last year, King revealed that AI had been trained on his books.
