According to Odaily, the YouTube channel of Seven Network, a major Australian broadcasting company, was hijacked and used to propagate a deep-fake cryptocurrency scam. The channel was renamed to mimic the car manufacturer Tesla and displayed a fake video of Elon Musk, claiming he was giving away cryptocurrency for free.

At the time of reporting, approximately 150,000 people had watched the three fake Elon Musk live streams on the 7News channel. It remains unclear how many of the viewers were bots. The incident underscores the increasing threat of deep-fake technology being used for malicious purposes, particularly in the realm of cryptocurrency scams.
