Before the weekend kicks off, we’ve added some extra updates on the Cartesi ecosystem 🐧
Focusing on the Cartesi Brazil @CartesiBR community work.
In the Niterói City Hall @NiteroiPref, Cartesi is collaborating with Fluminense Federal University @uff_br to revamp the city's transportation system, aiming to soon provide real-time bus tracking, routes, schedules, and passenger data—implementing blockchain for service compliance, while a new app will give citizens tools to plan trips and even report issues anonymously!
It's exciting to see this project, which stems from our previous collaboration with SBC Brasil @sbcbrasil during a hackathon, now being developed and receiving government funding.

Meanwhile, at the National Blockchain Observatory, we’re working with RedeRNP @Rede_RNP to empower the innovators’ community and make Cartesi the preferred technology for blockchain experimentation. The team will have multiple goals, such as creating APIs for Cartesi to operate as an L2 solution, developing a series of Cartesi dApp demonstrations, and providing tutorials for Cartesi dApp development.
A big thank you to Antonio Rocha @AARocha for driving these plans. He also presented his scientific results at the 6th International Conference on Blockchain Computing and Applications (BCCA 2024), where validations and experiments were conducted using Cartesi. Cartesi allows you to do more in web3, and it shows it!

Cartesi and the Linux operating system: empowering developers in the blockchain space
Ethereum is one of the first chains to support decentralized applications (dApps), whose backend is built on “smart contracts” and has on-chain event processing mechanisms. In order to solve the blockchain trilemma - scalability, decentralization, and security - various Layer 2 (L2) solutions and rollup technologies have emerged. These L2 solutions process transactions off-chain and use Ethereum as a data availability layer. However, while L2s are designed to scale Ethereum, they do not fully solve the computational scaling problem. Rollup technologies, even when running off-chain, still rely on the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) to process transactions, which results in higher gas fees. Cartesi Ecosystem #12
August 2nd - July was a very busy month, highlighted by EthCC. Cartesi participated in seven events in total: we hosted or co-hosted two, and participated in five as a partner or sponsor. The highlight of the week was the "Drinks & Debate" event co-hosted with Cartesi, where we had some great speakers from top projects discussing important topics such as interoperability and fraud proofs! Spoiler alert, Felten was pretty intense in the first panel.
Let's also celebrate Honeypot reaching the 1 million CTSI mark and still not being cracked!
