Two-thirds of cryptocurrency projects have ended, especially those that originated between 2020 and 2021 during a period of market rally.
• In 2023, 65% of these projects collapsed, and an additional 32% declined after the collapse of the FTX exchange
• More than a third (35%) of the projects disappeared after the collapse of Terra Luna
• Of the 12,343 projects examined, 8,854 were no longer active or were deleted.
• The average lifespan of a digital project is 3 years, much shorter than the typical 4-year cycle
• Terra and Cardano are among the top 10 networks with the highest number of retired cryptocurrencies
• The report was based on specific criteria such as low trading volume, liquidity, inactive or deleted Twitter accounts, and the removal of the coin from the COINMARKET website as indicators of its possible death.
