A user mistakenly transferred 499,000 USDT to Tether; now the tokens are lostšš
Apparently, the crypto user copied the wrong link and mistakenly sent half a million dollars to Tetherās smart contract.
The individual is extremely lucky that Tether is a centralized platform, and heāll likely get his money back. If he had transferred, say, ETH to an Ethereum smart contract, it would have been no laughing matter.
To avoid getting into such situations:
āŖļø Check every digit in the recipientās address when sending large sums. Itās worth doing this.
āŖļø If you are interacting with a certain wallet for the first time, send a minimum transactionāe.g., 1 USDTāfirst to make sure that everything works properly.
Donāt forget: Due to the decentralized nature of blockchains, if you send coins to the āwrongā place, youāre unlikely to to get them back.
Stay vigilant!
