Uniswap Labs could win its first Emmy in the crypto industry with its recently acquired game Crypto: The Game (CTG). This online survival game is a huge hit with degen gamers and is a candidate for an Emmy nomination in the Outstanding New Media Program category.

The game is based on the TV reality show format, where ten “tribes” of 80 players compete against each other in daily “immunity challenges,” such as competing in arcade games or winning in an online digital scavenger hunt.

Gamers pay 0.1 ETH to participate and the last survivor will take home the entire entry amount, minus a 10% fee to maintain the game. The losing tribes must vote their members out of the game. Players can receive personal immunity by tweeting about playing. On the final day, the previously eliminated players vote to choose one of the two final survivors.

Each season lasts ten days. The game takes place in real time over a 24-hour cycle on the Base blockchain. Fans follow along on X or Farcaster and can listen to a podcast dedicated to the game.

CTG was introduced in January and is currently preparing for its third season. Season 1 prize pool amounted to around $150,000 and season 2 brought winners $274,000 as ETH price increased. Season 2 competitors bought all the NFTs to participate in 15 minutes. Players can sell their NFTs and the buyer will receive their spot in the game.

Lead developer Dylan Abruscato told Fortune that CTG players are members of the X crypto community, crypto industry influencers and other market players, along with 10%-15% who are “normies,” i.e. people with no previous crypto experience.

Uniswap gets in on the CTG action

On June 11, shortly before the Emmy nominations were announced, CTG was acquired by Uniswap Labs for an undisclosed sum of cash, tokens, and shares. Abruscato and the entire development team have joined Uniswap to lead season 3 and work on other interactive experiences for the crypto community.

CTG goes head-to-head with virtual reality experiences, Verizon's Catch My iPhone game, the Billboard Music Awards and products from celebrities like horror director Eli Roth, musician Jean-Michel Jarre, celebrities Lucy Liu and Claymation characters Wallace & Gromit compete for an Emmy. Voting by members of the “peer group” runs until June 25.

On June 12, Solana also expanded into an adjacent market when it launched its Bond customer loyalty marketing service.
