According to Foresight News, Bitcoin.com reported that the Paraguayan government is urging legislators to pass a bill to impose up to 10 years in prison on illegal Bitcoin miners in response to the massive theft of electricity that threatens the National Electricity Administration (ANDE). More than 5,000 ASIC mining machines have been confiscated. The bill stipulates that Paraguayan police and prosecutors can confiscate and sell illegal mining equipment.
Foresight News previously reported that according to Cointelegraph, Paraguay has suspended the proposed ban on crypto mining and is considering selling excess energy from hydroelectric power stations to miners.
