A few days ago I saw again a scam that I knew about a few years ago, the scam using the virtual wallet Trust Wallet, they could use another wallet, but in my case they wanted to do it with that one.
The first step was that they added me to a WhatsApp group that was supposedly from BINANCE.
They started by sending authentic BINANCE information available on the internet and sending legitimate Binance Academy training links.
The next step is that they provide a table with enormous profit margins for mining.
For example, if you invest 1000 USD you would get 15 USD per day, the astronomical sum of 5,475 USD per year.
Then a group of people within the group start uploading images of the supposed profitability and thanking the group administrator for helping them.
At that time, the group administrator asks the group members to speak to him privately to assist him in the Virtual Wallet configuration process.
Following along, I contacted the administrator to understand what the scam is.
The Trust Wallet is legitimate and my 1000 funds were safe, the trick is that to collect my profits that reached the unreal sum of 850 USDT in a few days I had to pay commissions of 10% or about 85 USDT and send it to an address provided by them.
Once you transfer the commission money, they remove you from the group and block you.
I also noticed a smart contract that I never signed because I don't know the terms, but according to my research sometimes that type of contract gives you access to the Trust Wallet and they can transfer your funds that were “SAFE” to another Wallet.
So let's take care of ourselves BINANCE does not create WhatsApp groups for these purposes, nor does it promote investments outside of its platform.
A simple way to detect if a group of these is a scam, just upload content talking about online scams, they will remove you from the group immediately.
If you identify numbers from your country, report them to the competent authority.
