According to ChainCatcher, 350 executives, researchers, and engineers in the AI industry recently signed an open letter expressing concerns that AI technology will pose an existential threat to humanity. The letter was published by the nonprofit Center for Artificial Intelligence Safety, which only contains one sentence: "Reducing the risk of extinction from AI should become a global priority, alongside other societal risks such as pandemics and nuclear war."
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Google DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, three AI company executives, and 2018 Turing Award winners Geoffrey Hinton and Yoshua Bengio have signed the letter. (Source link)
