Nearly 8 million Indian public documents are currently stored on five hard-forks blockchain platforms owned and operated by the National Informatics Center (NIC), according to Cointelegraph on March 6.

Archives belong to six states, and three government agencies including the Board of Secondary Education, the Department of Consumer Affairs and the Department of Justice. The top three blockchain platforms that are hard-forked for adoption and deployment are Hyperledger Fabric, Hyperledger Sawtooth, and Ethereum. 

Currently, departments using blockchain technology have also enabled verification services around property ownership, birth and death certificates, as well as drug supply chain management systems and educational certificates.
