Cryptocurrency wallets purchased more than $1.3 million over the weekend thanks to the Ethereum version of the dogwifhat (WIF) meme coin. More than 12 wallets, identified as “insiders” by analytics tool Lookonchain, bought 24 million Ethereum WIF tokens for $3,000 in ether. Demand for the tokens sent prices rising by fractions of a cent to 30 cents before concerns over token ownership sent prices down more than 80% since Saturday. The creator of the "dog in a pink hat" meme, @issa, stated that he had no affiliation with the $WIF team and did not receive any share. Meanwhile, @issa's direct participation in Ethereum WIF tokens has generated strong demand for the tokens, with trading volumes of approximately $7.7 million in the last 24 hours. The debate about which WIF token is the real one continues in the crypto community.
