According to Cointelegraph, Telegram founder Pavel Durov and his partner Juli Vavilova revealed that Vavilova was pregnant during Durov's brief detention by French authorities, but suffered a miscarriage on October 4, 2024 due to pressure from the investigation.

Vavilova said on Telegram that she learned of her pregnancy on August 25 but did not immediately respond to law enforcement inquiries on doctor's advice. She was interviewed a few weeks later.

Durov recalled the painful experience of miscarriage. Vavilova said she was ten weeks pregnant when she learned on October 4 that the fetus' heartbeat had stopped.

Durov was arrested in France on August 24, 2024, and charged and released four days later on charges including conspiracy to distribute child pornography. French President Emmanuel Macron denied the arrest was a political act.
