According to Odaily Planet Daily, a study by blockchain platform CoinPoker shows that British people may have up to 34 billion pounds (about 45.32 billion US dollars) of "unaccounted" BTC.
The study pointed out that as many as 720,000 BTC are missing in the UK alone. The report cited data from (World Population Review) showing that the UK has 18% of the world's cryptocurrencies.
The report’s conclusions include: 540,000 to 720,000 BTC are missing in the UK, worth £25 billion to £34 billion. At the current exchange rate, the UK economy could lose tens of billions of pounds in BTC.
Analyst David Bartram noted that some of this wealth may never be recovered, but recommended checking old hardware and trying to recover passwords.
In addition, approximately 3 to 4 million BTC have been lost worldwide.
