Cardano (ADA) is showing strong growth in smart contract development, CryptoPotato reports. Since the beginning of this year, Plutus scripts (including Plutus V1 and V2) on the Cardano network have grown by 171.45%, with nearly 500 new smart contracts added to the Cardano network every day. According to Cardano Blockchain Insights, the network has implemented 39,000 smart contracts, with a special focus on Plutus V2. Plutus is a programming language tailor-made for creating smart contracts on the Cardano blockchain, based on functional programming principles and prioritizing security and reliability. However, Plutus V2 introduces several advantages and features for developers. Therefore, Plutus V2 provides a series of features that reduce transaction size and cost, and provides developers with a more flexible and scalable framework. Specifically, since January 1, there have been 6,439 Plutus V1 scripts, an increase of 2.27%; there have been 32,593 Plutus V2 scripts, an increase of 303.23% since the beginning of the year. This means an average of 495 new smart contracts are added every day, and approximately 82 Plutus V1 scripts and 413 Plutus V2 scripts are added every day. Cardano has also seen significant growth in the number of daily active wallets on the network, reaching 600,000. The rise in this metric comes after the Cardano decentralized finance (DeFi) ecosystem surged to nearly $600 million in early March. As CryptoPotato reports, Cardano has become the cryptocurrency with the most active development activity and the highest weekly engagement, surpassing Ethereum and Avalanche.
