According to Cointelegraph, Ukraine's Ministry of Digital Transformation released an artificial intelligence (AI) regulatory roadmap on October 7. The roadmap aims to help local businesses prepare for the adoption of laws similar to the EU AI Act and educate citizens on how to prevent AI risks. According to the announcement text of the roadmap, it adopts a bottom-up approach, from little to more: before any law is adopted, it provides companies with tools to prepare for future requirements. The roadmap will set a preliminary period for companies to adopt potential laws in the next two to three years. Oleksandr Borniakov, Deputy Minister of Ukraine's Ministry of Digital Transformation, said: "We plan to create a culture of corporate self-regulation in a variety of ways. In particular, by signing a voluntary code of conduct to prove the ethical use of AI by companies. Another tool is a white paper that will familiarize companies with the methods, timing and stages of regulatory implementation." According to the roadmap, Ukraine's draft AI legislation is expected to be introduced in 2024, but national law will not take it into account until the EU implements the AI Act. In June of this year, the EU AI Act passed the European Parliament. Once implemented, the bill will ban certain types of AI services and products while restricting or limiting other products.
