According to the Binance blog event minutes, Binance and Chainalysis jointly held the "Securing the Future of Crypto: Compliance and Collaboration" event in Seoul, where experts revealed recent crime trends. Alec Zebrick, Chainalysis Asia Pacific Investigation and Special Project Manager, pointed out that this year, the scale of ransomware crimes has increased by 10.3%, while the scale of virtual asset-related fraud and hacker crimes has decreased by 45.2% and 23.5%, respectively. As of June, the loss of virtual assets caused by ransomware attacks has reached US$400 million, making this year likely to be the year with the most ransomware payments in history. Alec Zebrick emphasized that although these data show that security measures in the virtual asset ecosystem are improving, the threat of ransomware still exists, so the industry needs to strengthen cooperation.
Jarek Jakubcek, Binance’s head of law enforcement training, said that the Binance investigation team voluntarily complies and works closely with law enforcement agencies around the world to provide practical assistance. In addition, Binance also provides training for law enforcement agencies around the world, and has held more than 70 training courses so far in 2023.
