According to Foresight News, U.S. Attorney Lewis Kaplan said the U.S. Department of Justice still plans to charge Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF) with illegal campaign contributions when he goes on trial in October. Previously, prosecutors said they could not bring such charges against SBF due to treaty obligations to the Bahamas. Prosecutors will file a superseding indictment next week that charges SBF with seven counts, including wire fraud charges that SBF used customer deposits to make campaign contributions.
