According to CRYPTOPOTATO, BlackBerry found in its August edition of the BlackBerry Global Threat Intelligence Report that finance, healthcare and government are the three industries with the highest distribution of cyber attacks. From March to May 2023, BlackBerry's cybersecurity solutions successfully blocked more than 1.5 million attacks, during which it was found that the encryption industry has become a key target for fraudsters. BlackBerry's telemetry data found that attackers are expanding their range of tools to circumvent defense controls, especially for traditional solutions that rely on signatures and hashes. BlackBerry also found that the Linux operating system is the main target of threat actors, aiming to use computer resources for cryptocurrency mining, mainly the privacy-centric cryptocurrency asset Monero. In addition, macOS users now face a new threat called Atomic macOS information stealer, which is specifically designed to collect credentials from keychains, browsers, cryptocurrency wallets, and other sensitive data on macOS-based devices.
