According to TechFlow news on January 10, as reported by Cryptonews, the Russian Ministry of Finance has begun to dispose of Bitcoin assets confiscated in the Infraud hacker organization investigation. According to the Russian state news agency TASS, the first batch to be liquidated comes from approximately $10 million worth of Bitcoin assets belonging to former investigation committee investigator Marat Tambiev. Tambiev was sentenced to 16 years in prison in 2023 for accepting bribes from the hacker organization, with a total of 1032.1 BTC involved in the case. However, since Tambiev had distributed the Bitcoin across various wallets, law enforcement needs to apply for court rulings for each different wallet. Currently, the first batch of liquidated assets is stored in a Ledger Nano X hardware wallet. Additionally, the prosecution plans to liquidate his properties in the Moscow region and a Honda motorcycle. Notably, Tambiev accepted Bitcoin bribes multiple times between 2020 and 2022, assisting the hacker organization in transferring cryptocurrency assets worth approximately 13.7 billion rubles (about $137 million). There are two other individuals involved in the case, one of whom was sentenced to 9 years in prison, while the other remains at large.
