With the rise of AI Agent narratives, many projects in the gaming track have started to enter the field. Recently, Illuvium announced a partnership with Virtuals Protocol, stating that it will utilize Virtuals' AI technology and its G.A.M.E LLM framework to provide dynamic, intelligent behaviors for NPCs, enhancing player immersion. The auto-chess game Planet Mojo has also launched AI Agent Mr. WWA (Winston Wylde Alexander), with the token WWA serving as a platform reward token, and plans to launch an AI Agent game.
However, before these well-known blockchain game projects entered the scene, a blockchain game had already ventured into the AI agent field with its game’s ‘star’ Freya, and recently made it to Binance Alpha.
Starfall Chronicles: The game world where Freya was born
Starfall Chronicles is an AI-driven Roguelike fantasy style RPG developed by Rosentica. The project aims to create a combat system rich in strategy and customizable deep character development, set in a dynamic and ever-changing universe driven by autonomous AI partners and NPCs during an age of exploration. The alpha version of Starfall Chronicles will be released in November 2024, with a beta version planned for January 2025. According to an announcement made by Immutable last December, Starfall Chronicles will also launch on that platform.
The excellent artistic and visual design currently showcased in the game is primarily attributed to chief artist Sangsoo Jeong, a renowned Korean concept artist and illustrator who has collaborated multiple times with Riot Games on League of Legends, creating numerous skin artworks.
Moreover, Rosentica aims to attract players through rich storylines and deep, complex game characters. Currently, nine characters have been released, including Freya, Vera, and Lionheart. Players can obtain characters through recruitment, with permanent recruitment divided into six types: ordinary, elite, legendary, knight, warrior, and ranger, as well as limited-time and temporary recruitment methods.
Starfall Chronicles also adopts the Fateweaver Gacha system, ensuring that every character recruited by players has random skills and attributes, guaranteeing the uniqueness of each individual. To enhance players' customization capabilities, Rosentica has also developed a complex talent tree system, allowing players to deeply customize their characters by configuring different skills according to their personal playstyle and preferences. Additionally, each character has a random attribute growth level ranging from C to SS, and even includes randomly assigned constellations.
Game mechanics of Starfall Chronicles
In the game, when a battle begins, both sides' mercenaries will be deployed according to the grid formation set by players before the battle. The combat proceeds in turns and orders. Each turn represents a complete cycle, during which all surviving mercenaries will have one opportunity to act, taking actions in order of speed attributes, with faster units acting first. When all mercenaries on one side are completely eliminated, the battle ends. In the currently open version, only CLASH (single-player PVP mode) is available, while details about the tournament (multiplayer PVP mode) and sailing mode will be disclosed before the Beta test.
The gameplay mentioned above does not offer much novelty and has little relation to the trending AI agents. However, in the recently disclosed Infinity 7 mode, the project team stated that each of the nine main characters will be intelligent, adaptive AI agents capable of continually evolving based on player interactions and preferences. These characters are designed to be truly vibrant, possessing personality, behavior, and decision-making processes that can organically respond to player actions.
It is worth mentioning that among the nine main characters, only $Freya will be tokenized and applied to utilities not limited to the game. In Infinity 7, players can spend $Freya to permanently change their personality, preferences, dislikes, and even core worldviews to align with their tastes and influence their roles in the unfolding story. Since there are no pre-written events, players can freely choose their goals and actions, and the entire story dynamically changes based on the players' choices, all generated by a procedural narrative engine and an adaptive behavior simulation system.
$Freya token's functions and staking mechanism
$Freya can be used not only for in-game consumption but also includes functions such as participating in governance votes, accessing the rarest features, and being used for staking and profit distribution. According to DexScreener data, as of the morning of January 10, the market capitalization of $Freya is approximately $15.6 million.
As mentioned above, the most common use of $Freya tokens in the game is for personalizing characters. To avoid the instability of the $Freya token market price affecting players' consumption experience, Starfall Chronicles has fixed the in-game consumption price of $Freya to an amount equivalent to the US dollar, allowing players to worry less about market fluctuations, resulting in a more stable and intuitive consumption experience.
In addition, the ability to re-extract a character's specific skill and enhance the random attribute growth ranking of a character is one of the rarest features in the game, which cannot be obtained through resources like lottery draws, upgrades, or battle tickets, and can only be unlocked using $Freya tokens.
In terms of community governance, the project team plans to introduce a sunflower roundtable meeting, allowing players to propose and vote on the future development direction of the game. Proposals and voting require holding a certain amount of $Freya, and players can vote to decide on game mechanics adjustments involving skill adjustments, character reworks, game mode changes, storyline direction, functionality design, and changes in the game system, difficulty, rewards, etc.
$Freya adopts a deflationary economic model, where 20% of each token transaction is permanently destroyed, thereby reducing the total supply, and the remaining $Freya is redistributed to token holders based on the amount staked. $Freya holders can stake their tokens in <Stardust Gate> to receive dividends from all $Freya spent in the game.
Through these mechanisms, holders of $Freya tokens can benefit not only from the appreciation in token value but also share profits through the game's success and income, becoming indirect investors and beneficiaries of dividends in Starfall Chronicles.
