According to The Block: Phala, a Polkadot-based parachain and computing platform, has launched a new Layer 2 network on Ethereum.

This release was made in collaboration with infrastructure providers Succinct Labs and Conduit.

The Polkadot-based parachain and verifiable computing platform Phala has partnered with infrastructure providers Succinct Labs and Conduit to launch a new Layer 2 network on Ethereum.

This Layer 2 rollup combines optimistic proofs and zero-knowledge proofs, utilizing a technology known as 'OP Succinct.' This technology was developed by Succinct Labs and enhances the capabilities of optimistic rollups (especially those built on the OP Stack) by combining zero-knowledge proofs.

Meanwhile, Phala developers have utilized the rollup-as-a-service platform Conduit to assist with the launch.

While Phala operates as a parachain in the Polkadot ecosystem, this initiative extends its services to the Ethereum ecosystem. As the Ethereum Layer 2 ecosystem continues to grow, the number of rollups or Layer 2 chains on Ethereum in 2024 will exceed 100, three times that of the end of 2023.

"The migration of Phala Network to Ethereum marks a bold shift to provide its cryptographic computing solutions on the largest smart contract platform," the project noted.

Phala is well known for providing application deployment networks, especially in the fields of decentralized computing and artificial intelligence. This security is achieved through Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs), which are specialized hardware technologies that ensure the secure and private execution of code. TEEs allow developers to deploy confidential smart contracts in specific decentralized applications, such as AI agents.

Recently, Phala Network collaborated with the AI agent development platform ai16z to build Eliza's TEE. This system integrates TEE technology into Eliza's multi-agent framework, providing cryptographic verifiability and improved privacy to ensure secure interactions between AI agents.
