On January 6, local time in the United States, Congress counted the electoral votes and officially confirmed former president and Republican presidential candidate Trump as the elected president. What new changes will the inauguration of the first 'crypto president' in history bring to the cryptocurrency industry? This has become a topic of concern for all parties. To prepare for the upcoming inauguration on January 20, MetaEra has launched a special topic on 'Trump's Inauguration Ceremony', which will provide comprehensive coverage of the 47th presidential inauguration of the United States. This article serves as the first piece in this special topic, showcasing American presidential elections and inauguration culture, as well as the general process of this inauguration ceremony.

The United States operates under a presidential cabinet system, with the president elected every four years, eligible for re-election once. Whenever a new president is elected, an inauguration ceremony is held. This is a significant celebration in American political life. The inauguration ceremony marks the beginning of a new presidential term. In fact, the only requirement specified in the U.S. Constitution for the inauguration ceremony is that the new president must take an oath before assuming office. However, over time, the traditional elements of the inauguration ceremony have gradually expanded, evolving from a simple oath-taking ceremony into a day-long event that includes parades, speeches, and balls.

The 2024 U.S. presidential election is the 60th (47th) presidential election in U.S. history, using the 'Electoral College' voting system. A candidate must obtain 270 of the 538 electoral votes (100 from senators, 435 from representatives, and 3 from the District of Columbia) to be elected president. The general election will be held on November 5, 2024, and the elected president and vice president will take office on January 20, 2025.

On November 5, 2024, the Republican Party secured 51 seats in the Senate, winning control. In the early hours of November 6, Republican presidential candidate Trump announced his victory in the 2024 presidential election.

The elected 47th president of the United States, Donald Trump, was born on June 14, 1946, in New York, USA, and has German ancestry from the Free State of Bavaria. He graduated from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He is a German-American Republican politician, entrepreneur, real estate businessman, and television personality, having served as the 45th president of the United States (January 20, 2017 - January 20, 2021). Trump officially accepted the Republican presidential nomination in July 2024.

According to past practices, the inauguration ceremony for the 47th president of the United States will be held on January 20, 2025 (during the day) at the U.S. Capitol in Washington.

First is the morning prayer ceremony. The elected president will attend the church service, a practice that has been in place since President Franklin D. Roosevelt's inauguration in 1933.

After the ceremony concludes, the outgoing president will accompany the elected president to Capitol Hill to attend the inauguration ceremony and take the oath of office. Following that, the vice president and president will each take their oaths. The president's oath-taking ceremony is usually presided over by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.

Lastly, there is a parade to celebrate the president's inauguration. After the luncheon, the presidential motorcade will travel along Pennsylvania Avenue, accompanied by military honor guards, civic groups, military bands, and various floats. The president, vice president, and guests will watch the parade from a viewing platform in front of the White House, which is organized by the presidential inauguration committee of the Joint Task Force of the U.S. Armed Forces.

During the inauguration ceremony, the elected president of the United States will take the oath.

Article II, Section 1, Clause 8 of the U.S. Constitution states the oath of office for the president as follows: 'I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.' Traditionally, the elected president places their hand on the Bible while taking the oath, but this is not a requirement. Theodore Roosevelt did not place his hand on the Bible when he took the oath of office in 1901.

In addition to the president taking the oath, the elected vice president and other federal officials will also take the oath, which is as follows: 'I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic. I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same. I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion. I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.'

The entire inauguration ceremony will start security checks at 6 a.m. on the 20th, during which tens of thousands of people will gather in Washington Square, including foreign delegations and family representatives, representatives from various states in the U.S., business and political leaders, as well as important invited guests.

In the evening, the presidential inauguration ball will be held at the Washington Convention Center in the United States. It should be noted that various themed balls will be held during the inauguration ceremony, and the elected president and first lady do not attend all of them, but only select some important balls.

The ball has dress code requirements for both men and women. Men are required to wear black ties and tailcoats, with encouragement to wear boots. Women are required to wear long dresses or cocktail dresses.

The ball will invite celebrities from all walks of life. Distinguished guests attending the 2017 inauguration ball included:

The 69th U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, the 48th Governor of Texas Greg Abbott, Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, Attorney General Ken Paxton, Senators Cornyn and Cruz, members of the Texas congressional delegation, actor Jon Voight, Duck Commander founder Willie Robertson, and members of the elected president Trump's family, including Donald Trump Jr.

From the guests who attended the last ball, it is not hard to see that important figures will also be present at this inauguration ball.

It is important to note that during Trump's inauguration ceremony, the American flag will be flown at half-mast to commemorate the late former president Jimmy Carter. This will be the 'first' time the flag is flown at half-mast during a presidential inauguration due to the death of another president. Trump also expressed his dissatisfaction with this move on social media.

The following articles in this special topic will also predict the policies that Trump will implement after taking office and explore the impact on the cryptocurrency industry. Please continue to follow this special topic.
