According to a report by Cointelegraph, holders of Reddit Collectible Avatars (RCA) NFTs expressed concern about the future prospects of the product after learning that the project leader has confirmed her departure from the social media company. Bianca Wyler, the head of the Reddit Collectible Avatars project, stated on LinkedIn: 'My journey at Reddit has come to an end. While I feel sad about this transition, I am incredibly proud of what I achieved during that time.' Some Reddit users noticed that Wyler's recent comments on her Reddit account had been deleted, which raised further concerns among them, as they believed her seemingly abrupt departure might be a sign that the social platform will make adjustments to the avatar project. In an interview, Wyler revealed that her departure reflects a natural shift in the social media company as it explores new technologies and adjusts its priorities. Although uncertain about the direction of the RCA project, she believes that Reddit will continue to work for the benefit of the community. RCA was launched in July 2022 and was marketed as a limited edition artwork created in collaboration with independent creators. According to Dune Analytics, the total number of holders for these NFTs has now exceeded 33.5 million. Since peaking at the end of 2022, sales of these NFTs have not kept pace, with monthly secondary market trading volumes in the last three months of 2024 hovering around $100,000, and trading volumes have also declined since reaching a peak in 2022.
