Odaily Planet Daily News - A cryptocurrency forum moderator and father of four claims he was forced to go into hiding due to threats of kidnapping and abuse in an attempt to obtain his Bitcoin. According to La Presse on Monday, the Canadian man (who did not disclose his name to protect his children's identities) stated that police told him they could not guarantee his family's safety and that they should relocate, as potential attackers might be linked to organized crime. Since then, the family decided to continuously change their Airbnb accommodations, living off their savings. Media reports indicate that two adults were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to kidnap and possession of illegal firearms, and two underage suspects were also apprehended. However, these attackers, who had no criminal records, were placed under house arrest in March, raising concerns for the family's safety. A spokesperson for the Quebec provincial police told the media, 'Part of the police's job is to meet with victims and explain that we cannot ensure their safety 24/7.' However, he did not comment directly on the matter. Police investigations revealed that the attackers believed the man had Bitcoin worth billions based on his social media activity, but the victim clarified that the Bitcoin he holds is only worth around $10,000.
