Foreign direct investment in Ukraine decreased by 14% - Hetmantsev

FDI inflow to Ukraine amounted to $3.98 billion in 11 months of 2024, which is 14% less y/y.

Net foreign direct investment inflow – $3.64 billion for this period (-19%).

The main share of FDI – 64% – is reinvested in the profits of foreign companies operating in Ukraine. For the whole of 2023, reinvested profits amounted to 75% of FDI.

Ukrainian startups attracted $310.5 million in financing during 2024 for 241 announced deals

The lion's share – grants under the programs of the Ukrainian Startup Fund and Seeds of Bravery.

Two-thirds of the amount was provided by a mega round of $200 million of the sixth Ukrainian unicorn Creatio, which was valued at $1.2 billion.

The government has expanded the powers of the NBU regarding currency regulation

Now the NBU has the right to establish exceptions and features of the introduction of payment deadlines for transactions on the export and import of goods for the needs of a production sharing agreement, as well as the provision of services for organizing the transportation of natural gas through the territory of Ukraine to non-residents.

This will allow for proper currency supervision of transactions.
