Editor’s Note:
The first time I wrote about Griffain and SendAI hackathon was on December 13th. At that time, Solana hackathon and Griffain became popular, which caused a wealth effect in Solana. Now, with the outbreak of AI market, Griffain's market value has reached its highest point in history today, exceeding 480 million US dollars. SendAI token Send has also returned to a market value of 100 million US dollars. In the current situation of super-fast evolution of AI Agent ecology, what are the advantages and progress of Griffain and Send?
Perplexity for Web3, or the App Store for Solana?
When we look back at the past of founder Griffain, we will find that he did not join Crypto at the beginning, but grew up in Silicon Valley for 6 years and accumulated considerable development and sales experience before entering Crypto.
In September 2016, a young man from San Francisco State University opened the door to Uber. If nothing unexpected happened, you might never have known him until the market value of the token of the project he founded on the Solana chain exceeded 250 million US dollars. He is Tony Plasencia, the founder of Graffin.
Unlike other cryptocurrency founders who often hide their personal information, you can easily find any information about him online. Until now, you can still see his views on various social phenomena on Medium. He resigned from Uber. Later, he participated in and invested in many start-up companies, including Thumbtack, an American home service website invested by well-known VCs such as Sequoia Capital, and Ritual, a food ordering platform.
After many twists and turns, he founded his first blockchain project (Underdog Protocol) in 2022. Although it now appears to be a platform for issuing NFTs and SPL Tokens without code, its initial intention was to finance the future of an individual as a token, which is quite similar to the Human Agent investment platform. Although this project did not cause much stir in the market, it was also his first stop in blockchain entrepreneurship.
His second stop was to develop a platform for launching Blinks tokens and NFTs when the Blinks ecosystem was booming - Blinkdotfun. It reflects the rise and fall of the token market value by locking the Sol of buying and selling tokens in the Bonding Curve. Users can share links on X so that others can buy or sell tokens directly on X, making X his launch platform.
Griffain, released on November 1 this year, has become Tony's most successful Crypto project. He first released Griffain at the Hacking for Agentic Finance hackathon, expressing his vision of turning your ideas into a practical artificial intelligence agent engine. Perhaps because of the accumulation of previous projects, it has attracted a lot of attention from the Solana ecosystem, including Toly, vvAIfu, Jupiter, and Dialect, all of whom have expressed their support or further cooperation to improve the product.
At this stage, CryptoAI projects are developing very rapidly, and at the same time, they are highly differentiated. Simply discussing the AI Agent-related market, the funds are basically allocated to the upstream, which focuses on the architecture and ecology of AI Agents or the cellular system that allows Agents to operate collectively; the midstream is AI Agents that have an impact on the market; and the downstream is AI apps with real application value or rapidly maturing data sets.
As an all-in-one AI Agent, Griffain is a complete supply chain involving the upstream, midstream and downstream. As an integrated AI app, it does not develop a framework but acts as a Perplexity-style AI Agent Yellow Pages. When users make requests, Griffain can call out agents that can meet user needs. This will not only allow him to gain attention from AI Agents launched on his platform in the future, but also allow the functional AI Agents produced upstream to directly skip the steps of product and demand-side development and expansion, directly build a bridge between developers and users, and form a "SaaS" platform similar to AI Agents.
Just a few days ago, Griffain launched a SAIMP "Solana AI Message Protocol" concept, which is equivalent to an on-chain communication system between AI Agents. The information that can be exchanged includes sender/receiver addresses, topics, content, etc. Many experts or users believe that AI Agents do not have self-awareness but are just calculation systems, so it is useless to create a communication system for them.
But in fact, for the next round of AI Agents, it is very important whether all data can be verified on the chain. The Tee architecture can ensure that AI Agents are not manipulated by humans and can act according to their own consciousness. What SAIMP needs to do is to make the communication between AI Agents transparent "public" or verifiable "private chat between Agents". Compared with functionality, the storage and verification of communication information between multiple agents is its more important function.
It is not difficult to imagine why the market has such high expectations for Griffain. Not only is it the first Web3 version of Perplexity, but more importantly, this platform provides AI Agents with an upstream and downstream interaction platform, which not only shortens the communication cost between AI Agents and humans, but also functional transactions and communication between AI Agents can be initiated by this AIpp Store. It is not only an Appstore for humans but also an Appstore for AI.
Solana also has an "Agent Kit"
If the surge in Solana’s token market value to $170 million when it announced a hackathon hosted by SendAI was a reflection of the market’s expectations for it, then Send’s return to a market value of $130 million today is a true recognition of the market’s potential for its AI system.
People familiar with Send know that when Solana launched the Blinks concept, it almost replaced the official to display 100 uses of Blink on X. Blinks consists of two parts, Actions and Blinks. Actions provides compliant APIs to quickly complete operations such as transfers and smart contract execution, while Blinks converts APIs into shareable links, allowing users to directly preview and trigger on-chain transactions on web pages or social platforms.
Therefore, from the perspective of technical development, there is no better team than the Send team, who are familiar with blinks development and applications, to develop the infrastructure of Solana AI Agent. They have rich experience in on-chain interaction APIs and can connect them with multiple web clients. In addition to supporting the integration of multiple language architectures, their Agent kit also supports the embedding of multiple interaction modes such as "Dialect's blinks, Send Arcade's games", making it easier for agents using their tools to interact with the chain or social media.
The hackathon hosted by Send AI stopped collecting lists a few days ago, and finally 427 projects successfully proposed. Within a few weeks of the announcement of Solana Agent Kit, 65 projects were developed using Solana Agent Kit. After the list was closed, countless projects used the tool but did not participate. At the end of 2024, the number of stars of this open source architecture has far exceeded Zerepy and Coinbase's cdp agent kit.
In this way, the infrastructure of Solana has been selected for high throughput and response speed, including various DePin projects that provide computing power and data sets, AI Agent basic tools such as Solana Agent Kit, Zerepy, ElizaOS, arc, etc., and all-in-one tools such as griffain. All AI Agent developers only need to use their imagination to find possible usage scenarios. Infrastructure, supply side, usage scenario channels, a complete supply chain closed loop is completed. This is Solana's conspiracy and will be the most efficient way to produce Crypto AI.
