Solana L2 Sonic to Launch Native Token on January 7

Sonic, the Solana Virtual Machine network for games and apps on Solana, will unveil its native token SONIC on January 7.

On December 31, the Sonic team said that the Solana (SOL) layer 2 chain’s token generation event will see 57% of the total token supply allocated to the community. The distribution will include SONIC reserved for the ecosystem, initial claims, and Sonic HyperGrid rewards.

The TGE announcement comes just days after gaming platform Solana L2 said it planned to launch its native tokens for TikTok users. SONIC will power the gaming-centric blockchain and its multi-Solana Virtual Machine ecosystem.

Sonic will have a total supply of 2.4 billion tokens, with 15% expected to enter circulation during the TGE.
